Each time it rains, a little bit of water seeps under the tiles in our basement floor. Not much at all, but I’m wondering what type of carpet/ pad to get so that even that little bit, over time, won’t become mildew/ mold. I’d love any suggestions.

I am moving into a house with a pale blue carpet. But my couch is chocolate brown, my curtains are brown and gold and I have an antique gold mirror and pictures frames on the walls. How do I tie these colors in together? Like what color throw pillows should I use for the couch. Should I buy a big area rug to cover up as much carpet as possible?

Other than fabric, what attracts carpet beetles and what can they eat? If I hide anything that attracts them, would less of them come?

My clothes are protected in my drawers, but there are still many carpet beetles (alive and dead) found in my room.

I have urethane backing carpet that I need to install for the stairway. Should I use glue, double sided tape, or use the existing tack stips to hold the carpet in place? Are the tacking strips ok for urethane backing?

A washer leaked and it made it to the carpet. Now it smells soured and nasty. How can I get that smell out. It smells like the padding below the carpet as well as the carpet itself.

Last year my wife and I bought a new home. We came home from Christmas vacation to find that there was a leak in a pipe that seeped under the laminate flooring in the kitchen and ruined the carpet in the living room.

My question… I need to replace about 15-20 feet of laminate wood flooring and about 175 sq feet of carpet. Do you know how much either one will cost?

We knocked over some red wine the other night onto the carpet and managed to get the stain out of the carpet with some stain remover, but the carpet still smells like wine. Any suggestions on how to remove it?

We currently have green carpet and beige walls. Our furniture is mostly a cream color with a burgundy and green rose print on it. Also we have green curtains. We would really like to just start out fresh with everything but my grandparents bought us the furniture and curtains. Any ideas for what we should paint our walls and what color our carpet should be?

I am wanting to remove a really old carpet from a floor that has wood underneath. The wood is in OK shape and I would like to not have to refinish it right now. The carpet is coming up fine but the backing is still glued to the floor. Does anyone have any suggestions to remove it other than lots of scraping.

My roommate vomited in our dorm and didn’t make it to the trash bin. We tried using carpet cleaner, then laundry detergent to get rid of the smell but neither worked. I read online that club soda will bleach the carpet and baking soda will clog vacuum cleaners. Any other suggestions as to how to get rid of it entirely?
Keep in mind, I’m in a college dorm and I’m a poor college student so I can’t really call a carpet cleaning service.
