My landlord requested to cover 80% of a hard-wood floor with a carpet after my neighbor below complained on footstep noise. They say they may accept rugs but only with padding. I am only able to find pads helping to protect carpets from wearing and stop rugs slipping on a floor but not to cancel the noise. Solution must be cheap. Professional acoustic pads like the ones for sound recording studios are too expensive.

I need to deep clean my daughter’s closet. The carpet is medium length plush carpet. It’s not flat carpet but it’s not the real high stuff either. I have a Bissell Proheat 2x that I bought back in May. It uses heated water. How long should I wait before putting her toys and stuff back in the closet?

A friends birthday last night, got smashed with cake in the face and of course cake fell on the carpet. How do you get cake out of carpet. This is at a restaurant so the carpet is flat and smooth, not like house carpet.
The icing is red. Would Oxyclean work? Im going to look for some cleaning spray at WalMart later. It is at my friends restaurant, not sure if they have that amazing cleaner Neptune is talking about. Do you know what it looks like since you dont know the name? Will Walmart carry it?

Jack o Gymru! asked:

Our living room carpet has the most ghastly smell, a combination of not being properly cleaned with a carpet cleaner, a smelly dog and small children spilling a variety of juices on it. The Carpet cleaner has broken down, is there any way of cleaning the carpet using things one might find around the home and not using speacial products. I’ve heard of using Bicarb. is there another way? Please someone help!

How do you get the mildew smell out of carpet?

Paul S asked:

We just installed really nice (expensive) carpet. Due to a malfunction in our sprinkler system some water came into our newly finished basement and got the carpet wet.

This all happened while we were out of town. We we got home we noticed the wet carpet and a mildewy smell.

We pulled the carpet up in that area to dry out the pad beneath, and have a fan blowing on the carpet but I have a feeling that smell is going to remain.

Any advice from someone who has been here before?

Recently, my basement is flooded with water due to rain. It’s finished basement.Just recently finished it. We used RugDoctor to take the water out of the carpet. We almost drained the water out. But the carpet pad is still very wet. Is there any way to dry the carpet padding? or Should I change the pad?? Can we reuse the same padding after dry it out. or do I need to but new one? Becuase it’s the basement, I’m not sure how long will it to take to dry. I’m afraid that mold will form if it doesn’t dry soon. Any ideas?? Please help me. Thanks in advance.
