I want to buy some of those cheap sheep skin rugs at IKEA, but they are white and will get dirty. I would like to dye them a dark color – has anyone ever dyed a sheep skin rug and what kind of dyes work best on sheep skin?

Do you mean like a bear skin rug except a sheep. If it is a skin and it has hair in it it may eventually loose the hair unless it’s tanned properly. If it made from sheep fur or wool you can dye it with RIT DYE. It probably has a high lanolin content and may resist the dye the first time around though. miso1cat
