should not have pee’d on it !!!! but really if it is a pet thing go to wal-mart and get a product called “Scent be Gone in the pet dept.” worked good on my oriental in the bedroom. lvlichaels

Clean it with soap, then leave it out in the sun. It will dry up, and the smell would go away. Dr Dee

In those things you buy, the main ingredient is hydrogen peroxide. Test to see if it’ll bleach the colors out, but as long as the peroxide saturates where the pee was, it will eliminate the smell. wbbdriver10

Simple! Go to Pet Co or some pet supplies store and buy a small bottle of Simple Solution. Not Nature’s Miracle or any other brand, Simple Solution works best. Spray the Simple Solution on the stain and let it soak for a few minutes, then rub it out. No harm to the rug and the stain is gone! Trust me, i’ve been doing this for years! futbolb45

As you can see there are a plethora of answers some of them benign and some can be damaging to the rug

My advice….Take the rugs to a competent cleaner in your area they deal with these spots all the time rugman1138

As a rug professional of 23 years my advice is to take the rug to a professional rug cleaner. Most of the answers here are either ineffective or downright dangerous to the rug.
Make sure that the cleaner knows about the cat urine and knows you want to have the rug deodorized.
The dealer you have the rug in consignment from should be able to handle all of this. He probably will consider this as part of doing business. If he tries to make an issue of this you should never do business with him again. teddiesalad
