I’ve bought at least three new rugs, and wash them every time I find pee. I’ve even tried only putting the rug down when I take a shower, but then she goes on the floor. Help!!
I clean it everytime she goes in there, and I can’t close the door because the cat’s litter box is in there

She probly smells her urine there from the last time she peed there fore she thinks it is ok scrub the area with bleach, and discourage her from going near the bathroom rug. Howler, Wolfy

The dog is saying that it is there territory. So wash the rug with bleach and see if it works. lil princess

Remove and thoroughly wash rug – neutralize the odor on.

As long as the litter box is in there, the dog will probably pee there to try to establish his territory vs. the cat’s.

Watch your dog more carefully, don’t give him access to that bathroom. rescue member

Sounds like you are going to have to buy a brand new rug and keep the door to the bathroom closed. (ok, just read the can’t close the door….how about a wooden gate…I have that up, and it’s a pain sometimes, but the cat can either go over or under and the dog cant’) Washing it will not take the pee smell out. There is something called KOE (kennel odor eliminator) that works, but dogs will still be able to smell their pee scent. The only other thing I could think of is to get some puppy training pads and put on over the carpet if the gate idea doesn’t work.

    good luck Scooterchic

here are a few things you may be missing in the yard (see the link for actual training).
    1. Is the outside area small? (if it is then feeding out there and expecting him to go out there won’t fly as dogs don’t like to pee and poop where they eat or sleep so make sure there is plenty of room or feed him indoors then take him out straight away).
    2. Is the outside too clean? If there is not a scent of his own urine he will be less keen to go there. Try to leave it for a while (i know this is not very nice for you but it will speed things up).

This can be used in conjunction with crate training see
    Good luck :D Louise
