How long does it take to make a hooked yarn rug?

I’m looking for a few rugs for my place and wouldn’t mind putting a little elbow grease into it to save a few hundred dollars off a store bought rug (plus get my choice of material and colors).

Any estimates on how long I could expect it to take? How many hours per square foot, etc?

Any time saving suggestions (i.e. using tied cloth rather than yarn)?

    Start with a small kit from the craft store.

    I think you will see that making rugs is more expensive than buying them. pattiann
