    Vacuum cleaner
    Stain remover solution
    Paper towels
    Pure white vinegar
    Mild detergent
    Clean sponge
    Bucket of water
Step1Vacuum over the area rug to suck up any soil tracked into your house. Regular vacuuming helps prevent dirt from damaging the rug fibers. Shag rugs need to be shaken outside, since vacuuming can distort the softness of the pile.
Step2Spot clean the dirtiest areas of the rug first. Blot with a paper towel or use a stain remover for stubborn spills. Add a teaspoon of mild detergent and a teaspoon of pure white vinegar to two quarts of warm water for a homemade cleaning solution that’s safe on your rugs.
Step3Fully cleaning your wool rug requires some time, but the results will show. Take it outside onto a patio and wet it down with a hose.
Step4Add some mild detergent to a bucket of water and run the mix over the rug. Use a clean sponge to wipe up the spots that need cleaning.
Step5Wash down the rug afterwards with clean water. Drain out the excess water by rolling up the rug in dry towels. Make sure the rug does not stay wet or stay in the sun. Moisture can cause bacterial growth, while sun exposure can shrink the rug.
Step6Take your wool rug to a dry cleaner about once a year if you do not want to hassle with cleaning it yourself. The cost is high but it guarantees a thorough cleaning Becky

Go to the store where the pet products are kept and find a pet urine cleaner, that says it breaks down the natural enzymes. Follow the directions.

Let it dry with a fan and windows open so there is plenty of ventilation.

If there is still a problem, after you are sure it has dried sprinkle some baking soda on it and let sit for 30 minutes and then vacuum bic

The only way to remove the odor is with a urine neutralizer….Here are a couple of suggestions….good luck!

“Urine Out” cleaning system (escapetheplaneturine.com/), which uses a dry enzyme cleaner – the powder breaks down & absorbs the stain and odor, which is then removed when the powder is vacuumed up. It works wonderfully, and no more returning smells.

You can also go to the petcare section and get a good product there and for an inexpensive quick fix (always test your carpet first before using anything for fading) diluted distilled vinegar 1 part vinegar to 2 parts water

If your kitty has not been spayed or neutered, it is a good thing to look into, especially if it is a male cat as he won’t “mark” his territory. Thumbelina

you have to clean it out like you’ve never cleaned before! Don’t use the all in one cleaners, they’re not really well formulated for specifically, cat pee. First and foremost, you need to saturate the affected area as best as possible with cold water. Then go through this procedure of detergent, ammonia, vinegar and alcohol. This is how curators take care of antique rugs which have problems, and this is how our washing plant treats stains prior to being submerged.

Don’t forget to flush out as many times as you are patient with, and be sure to repeat the process. Cat pee is really tough to get out of a rug, especially given they have such a keen sense of smell. Best of luck, it works great for our customers rugs. Here’s the link: ).aspx RugManRobert
