I have a puppy who is 11 mths old and I’m having problems with him relieving himself on our new area rug. I have already riped out our carpeting in our living room. Is there something I can spray or use to keep him from continuing this?

A rolled up newspaper makes a lot of noise and lets them know you mean business so they decide to rethink their plans. Just whack your newspaper hard on the floor near the dog and holler NO! when he heads to the rug, then put him outdoors. grannysue

Well usually people stick their face in it and hit them (softly) with a paper or something. Might sound mean but it usually works. Sick of it.

let the dog out every 2 hours and don’t let it back in until it does #1 or #2. simple as that… also clean the area rug with vinegar. eye 4 n eye

You need to start over with his potty training. Pick up a book on crate training or ask your vet. The short version is this: Get a crate that is big enough so that the dog can stand up inside and turn around, no bigger. Any time you are gone and during the night, the dog needs to be in this crate. You must anticipate when th e dog may need to go to the bathroom. Take him out at least every hour, even if he doesn’t have to go. Praise him a ton if he does go outside. Is he fixed? Sometimes they pee to mark things as theirs if they have too much testosterone.
