I’m contemplating on getting my carpet cleaned house cleaned before I sell my house. Are carpet cleaning and housekeeping services worth the money, or can I do just as good a job myself? I don’t want to pay someone to clean, and then end up having to clean where they left off. Also, how much should I expect to pay to have my 1,800 sq.ft. house cleaned and its carpet cleaned? Thanks a million!

I have a hard time with the rugs in my house using modern methods, I scrub alot of syains by hand and it really is alot of work. Then I steam vac it and let it dry or I have a service do it. But what about in the time of the czars. How did the servants get it clean, what materials did they use and what kind of cleaners? Did they get beheaded for doing a bad job? jk :)

How long does it take for a tradesperson to lay carpet?

The room we need carpet laid in is 3 by 3.6 metres. We need a general estimate of time required to lay the carpet and we don’t really want to ask the tradespeople when they might over estimate the time then con us etc etc. This job includes taking old carpet that is in near good condition (we just need a change). Any calculated estimates would be greatly appreciated.

Can I install carpet over exposed asbestos adhesive?

labourer asked:

My cousin recently asked me to renovate an apartment for her. Unfortunately, her husband began removing the linoleum with a floor scraper before he was informed that the underlying adhesive had asbestos in it. All the tile is gone now and most of the adhesive has already been stripped away, but there’s still quite a bit that’s exposed and half scraped away. What should I do? Do I need to pay the loads for a professional to come in and finish the job or can I just lay carpet over all this asbestos?
