He only poops when the door is open, other than that he uses his littler box. ( little box is cleaned 2 x a day.) He does this even when we wash and bleach the rug. WHY!

For the past 6 months or so, my cat has been peeing and pooping on my throw rug (which, just so you know, was an expensive rug from Crate & Barrel which I love). My rug is stained from cat pee, and I just had it cleaned & deodorized this past weekend in the hopes that she would stop using it as a litter box. I used to think that she did it out of spite, but I can’t figure out why she’d be mad at me or my live-in boyfriend (who she belongs to, but we’ve been living together for about a year and dating for a year and a half, so she knows me well and is very loving towards me). I don’t know how to get her to stop using my rug as a toilet. Any suggestions? And, putting her to sleep is not a suggestion. We love her. But, if she doesn’t stop pooping and peeing on my rug I don’t know what II’ll do!
I have pushed her head in it after I’ve found the poop or pee, but she usually does it when I’m not home or my boyfriend isn’t home. And, she does use her litter box, she just uses my rug sometimes, too.
