Sorry to say but, carpet shampooers are the worst thing for your carpets. The shampoo can never be completely removed. Left over shampoo in the carpet causes the carpet fibers to break down and the carpet to get more dirty then before and quicker. I strongly recommend using a steam cleaner with as little as possible cleaning solution. You can rent them at the grocery stores. k h

is a place that sells the cleaners the pros use. I have had very good luck with the matrix line. For about what you would pay at the grocery store for a diluted product, you can buy a concentrate that will last you for years!

As for the person that said use a “steam cleaner” that you rent from the store, that IS a carpet shampooer (an extractor actually) and is not a steam cleaner. It does not use steam to clean the carpet.

Another secret is after you have cleaned the carpet, fill the machine with about a 30/70 percent mix of vinegar/water and quickly go over it one more time. The vinegar will help remove the residue and will leave the carpet feeling soft. Bill

I like either Capture or Krud Kutter, both are non-toxic, biodegradable, leave no detergent residue and can get out just about any stain and ground in dirt, as well. You can find them at Lowes home improvement center, both can be diluted and both are inexpensive and can be used for other purposes. eskie lover
