Its really for gripping a mat to a hard floor but I use it to keep the bathroom mat in place. There is also something at Scotts of Stow you may be interested in. They are called Self Adhesive Grippers which are plastic spikes that grip the carpet pile beneath. They cost £7.95 and the product number is 1049882. Cut it a little smaller than the rug and place it under the rug.
