We have hard wood floors but they are covered with carpet. We want to take the carpet off of the floors but once we do that, what are we supposed to do to the floors to keep them nice? Can anyone explain this process? Thanks In Advance!

just pull it up and after after that you probably need 2 refinish the floors Ellie

pull it up, then take like a putty scrapper and get the padding off of it and then youll need a sander if you are gonna leave it a hardwood floor. if you are gonna put new carpet over it i’d just tear it up and throw the new stuff down ANG

You’ll need to sand the floor if needed and have a new coat of varnish put on the floor. If you are lucky you won’t have to do anything except clean the floor with Murphy’s oil soap and dust. Do you know whether the hard wood floors are alright. Sometimes they are covered because they are too warped and would need to be replaced. Many hardwood floors were simply covered as this was the style of decorating and people covered them just to avoid caring for them. If the rugs are tacked down you’ll have to make certain to remove all the tacks and if their is any glue you will need to sand to remove the residue. Bonnie S
