Will it damage an Oriental rug to lay it on top of wall to wall carpet and put furniture on top of it?
I have a very nice Persian carpet that my grandmother left me. However, we just moved in to an apartment with wall to wall carpeting. I would like to put down the rug, but I am worried that it may damage the rug to not have a hard surface underneath it. Does anyone know whether it will harm the rug if I put furniture on top of the rug (on top of the carpet) ? Thanks!

Orientals are top of carpet is perfectly fine. We have them throughout our home. There is no harm to a carpet and orientals were not meant for just hard floors. You will have to buy a non slip mat that is specifically designed for rugs on top of carpets. Otherwise they will move and buckle just as a rug will on a hard surface. Home Depot and Lowes sell the mats as do just about everyone. dawnb
